Vernier Software & Technology has announced that all of its science activity books are now available in digital form for use with the company's LabQuest handheld device used for data collection. The announcement was made at last week's FETC 2008 conference in Orlando, FL.

The lab books for LabQuest each now include a CD containing lessons in Word format for use with LabQuest.

The LabQuest handheld includes six sensor ports, a built-in thermometer, built-in microphone, stopwatch, periodic table, on screen keyboard, and graphing calculator. The devices, which debuted in August, sell for $329. The newly revamped lab book will continue to sell for $45. Free samples are also available on Vernier's site.

In other Vernier news, the company will be hosting several free technology workshops for science and math educators this spring. The workshops will cover data collection in the following subject areas: chemistry, biology, physics, math, middle school science, physical science, and Earth science. Free meals will be provided at the four-hour workshops. For a $70 per credit hour fee, the workshops can also be used to earn two quarter credits in graduate science from the Portland State University Center for Science Education.
