Oklahoma Virtual High School is partnering with four new districts in Oklahoma to expand its online program for the 2008-2009 school year.

Oklahoma Virtual High School provides free, full-time online education to students in grades 9 through 12 who reside in the state. Aimed at advanced learners, home schoolers, and others who prefer a non-traditional education environment, the program provides more than 90 online classes, access to state-certified teachers, a curriculum that includes electives and advanced placement courses, and personalized learning programs. OVHS does award high school diplomas.

New districts joining up with OVHS include the Indiahoma School District, the Pittsburg School District, the Drummond School District, and the Freedom School District.

"We are delighted to be working with the Drummond, Indiahoma, Pittsburg, and Freedom school districts," said Jeff Elliott, president of Advanced Academics, the company that helped launch OVHS. "These innovative school districts demonstrate why Oklahoma is a national leader in terms of supporting online learning for high school students."

According to Advanced Academics, the school districts involved in OVHS receive funding for new online students, "even those who reside outside their district area."

Enrollments are open now through Aug. 28 for the 2008-2009 school year.
