Online Resource Targets FCAT Writing Improvement

##AUTHORSPLIT##<--->

Educational technology developer LearningExpress is launching a new program tailored specifically for the writing portion of the Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test (FCAT). The FCAT eFolio program is an online tool designed to help improve student writing and prepare for the FCAT Writing+ exam.

According to LearningExpress, only 50 percent of eighth graders and 53 percent of 10th graders achieved proficiency on the 2008 FCAT Writing+ exam. To address this, FCAT eFolio provides classroom tools specifically designed for this portion of the exam. These include unlimited online writing "practice" coupled with feedback from eFolio's built-in instant-scoring engine, called Project Essay Grade.

FCAT eFolio also offers grade-specific, multiple-choice writing tests and interactive writing tutorials for overall improvement in writing.

For teachers and administrators, the Web-based system offers diagnostic and performance reports. Further information about the Florida-specific program can be found here.
