AVerMedia has launched a new classroom tool called AVerPen, a handheld device that combines features from classroom response systems, whiteboards, and slates.

The AVerPen is a pen-shaped device that provides collaborative functionality, including the ability to collect input from students and use multiple devices simultaneously. They're designed to work on a variety of surfaces.

Classroom starter sets will be available for the AVerPen. They include four student pens and one teacher pen, which integrates with AVerVision document cameras has the ability to control AVer+ Software. Teacher pens can also control student pens in various ways, including activating them, limiting their functionality, and expanding their functionality.

The AVerPen is expected to be available in September 2009. It will be previewed at the NECC conference in late June. Further information about the AVerPen interactive collaborative learning system can be found here.
