Colorado District Overhauls Administration with New ERP Deployment

Cherry Creek School District in Colorado is revamping its administrations and replacing legacy systems with new enterprise resource planning (ERP) tools for finance, purchasing, and human resources management.

The district has signed on with Lawson Software to supply the new technologies, including the Lawson S3 Enterprise Financial Management suite, the Lawson Supply Chain Management suite, and the Lawson Human Resource Management suite.

"Our current systems are outdated, inefficient and increasingly difficult to maintain," said Lyndal Brookhart, director of human resources for Cherry Creek SD, in a prepared statement. "We needed an integrated system that can help us automate processes and analyze information so we can make more informed business decisions and better respond to new regulatory requirements. We also have highly complex, very specific payroll and benefits requirements. We chose Lawson because it is a proven software vendor, with a good track record of serving school districts."

Cherry Creek School District No. 5 serves nearly 49,000 students in 41 elementary schools, 13 middle schools, and seven high schools, as well as 24 preschool sites and 12 alternative education programs. Its 2009-2010 budget is expected to be $342.2 million.
