Epson To Ship Sub-$1,000 High-Light-Output Projector


Epson's $999 VS400 offers a brightness of 4,000 lumens.

Epson has introduced a new LCD classroom projector that promises to deliver a brightness of 4,000 lumens for less than $1,000.

The new VS400, which is slated for release next month, is an XGA-resolution (1,024 x 768) LCD projector designed for education. AT full brightness, it pumps out 4,000 lumens, while in economy mode it offers a brightness of 2,700 lumens. Its contrast ratio is 2,000:1.

Other features include:

  • Manual vertical keystone correction (±30 degrees);
  • Projection distance of 3.1 feet to 53.2 feet with an image size of 30 inches to 300 inches;
  • 1.6x manual zoom and manual focus; and
  • USB connectivity for an external control device.

A list of AV inputs and outputs was not available at press time. The VS400 is expected to ship in July for $999. Further information can be found here.
