Edvance360 LMS Adds Browser Lockdown

Edvance360 has updated its learning management system, Edvance360 LMS-SN, expanding course development and reporting features and adding in new learning outcome management tools.

Edvance360 LMS-SN (formerly known as Scholar360) combines course management, social networking, and Web 2.0 tools in a secure, online hosted learning environment that provides collaboration tools, support for distance education, course and lesson creation, extensive grade and assessment tools, and tracking and report generation, among other capabilities.

Version 5.2, released as an incremental update earlier this month, incorporates a wide range of functional enhancements, along with ongoing refinements to workflow and interface, as well as integration.

Among the major additions to version 5.2 is the addition of a feature called "LockDown Browser," a technology developed by assessment technology developer Respondus that takes over some functions of a student's computer once he or she starts a test to prevent the student from copying, printing, or visiting an external URL until the test has been submitted.

The new version also adds:

  • A database query builder;
  • Changes to the gradebook functionality to provide greater customization for instructors;
  • Enhanced support for LaTeX;
  • The addition of customizable course navigation links; and
  • Greater flexibility for administrators and instructors via new settings.
