Turning Tech Launches LCD Clickers

Turning Technologies has launched a new LCD version of its RF student response keypad, the ResponseCard NXT. The company also released a new software-based assessment tool, TurningKey.
ResponseCard NXT is an RF keypad equipped with an LCD screen and a special feature, called "self-paced test mode," that's designed for individual assessments. The NXT supports a range of assessment types, including multiple choice, true/false, fill-in-the-blank, and numeric response, among others. Student ID is tracked with each response, and each test is given a unique ID. Individual student data can be pulled up by the instructor.
Other features include:
- Support for sending individualized messages to students;
- Support for feedback in test and presentation modes;
- The ability to skip questions; and
- Automatic notification of unanswered questions.
The card-format device measures 4" x 2.5" and is three-quarters of an inch thick. It includes 22 keys, with letters, numbers, and punctuation. According to Turning Tech, 74 concurrent sessions can be running in close proximity without interference.

Turning Tech also released TurningKey, a streamlined student assessment application designed specifically for the ResponseCard NXT and ResponseCard XR input devices.
Features include:
- Support for up to 200 questions per test, with up to 20 different versions of a test being administered at once;
- Support for standard question types like multiple choice, fill-in-the-blank, matching, true/false, and others;
- Real-time monitoring;
- Test timing; and
- Reporting capabilities, including individual and aggregated results.
TurningKey works with Mac OS X and Windows systems and supports the following file formats: Answer Keys (tky), QuestionPoint Files (tqz), TestingPoint Tests (txlt), and TestingPoint Answer Keys (tpa).

In other Turning Tech news, the company said it's partnered with educational gaming software company C3 SoftWorks.
