Tegrity Campus Gets Android App, Accessibility Enhancements

Tegrity has released an updated version of its lecture capture system, Tegrity Campus 2.0. The new release adds note-taking capabilities and new closed captioning tools--and also gets an Android app to complement the iOS app already available.

Tegrity Campus 2.0 is a fully Web-based classroom recording system that provides the ability to capture, search, and retrieve classroom lectures and to deliver media for Web browsers, podcast players, and smart phones and tablets. It also offers digital note-taking capabilities, integration with learning management systems, and reporting tools (such as usage, grades, and course completion).

The new release expands note-taking capabilities with the launch of Tegrity Notes, a tool that allows students to take notes directly on their computers or tablets. In addition to traditional note-taking tools, Tegrity Notes also lets students create bookmarks on the fly during live and recorded lectures and also capture and store still images. Student notes can then be reviewed or exported to common office file formats.

It also includes a new app for Android, one that, like the Tegrity app for iPod, iPhone, and iPad, allows students to stream lectures, search materials, and add bookmarks.

Other new features include:

  • Support for Web-based transcription services for adding closed captions to lectures for Section 508 compliance;
  • Annotation of captured images;
  • Improved performance when uploading lectures;
  • Support for importing multimedia from other lecture capture systems and other Web-based sources; and
  • Expanded browser support, including Firefox 4, Internet Explorer 9, and Google Chrome.

In addition, Tegrity said an update coming in August will support Notes on Apple's iPad.

The new release of Tegrity Campus 2.0 is available now. Additional details can be found on Tegrity's site.
