SIIA Names Incubation Program Winners

The Software & Information Industry Association's Education Division has named three winners in its annual program designed to identify and showcase companies developing the most promising and innovative technologies for education.

This year's Innovation Incubator Awards program identified three such companies:

  • Clever, which designs software that's used to integrate school data from disparate software systems. Clever took first place in both the Most Innovative and Most Likely to Succeed categories.
  • Mathalicious, first runner up in the Most Innovative and Most Likely to Succeed categories, provides lessons aligned with Common Core State Standards that are designed to connect math concepts with "real world" experiences.
  • Classroom Inc., which provides career simulation tools. Classroom Inc. took the first "Educator's Choice Award" in this year's program.

Four runners up were also named:

  • C8Kids, which is designed to identify "cognitive strengths and weaknesses" in young students;
  • HandHold Adaptive/iPrompts, which provides a picture-based prompting tool (for students with Autism and ADD/ADHD, among others) for iOS, Android, Nook, and Kindle devices;
  • LearnSprout, which provides various education data services, including student data access, dashboards, provisioning, and messaging; and
  • mSchool, which provides tablet=based learning tools to after school programs.

The awards were announced at the 12th-annual Ed Tech Business Forum in New York this week. Awards for next year's program will open in January. Additional details about the program can be found on the SIIA site.
