Eduplanet21 Expands 'Flipped' Teacher Professional Development Tools

Eduplanet21 has updated its teacher professional development platform, adding new tools to help users track and assess their progress.

Billed as "flipped professional development," Eduplanet21 is a social learning tool that allows educators to build professional social networks and engage in self-directed, self-paced "learning paths" with their peers and interact with PD authors. It provides digital content, assessments, and multimedia materials and offers expert authors who provide guidance to teachers.

The updated service includes new private catalogs, which allow "individual organizations to display any learning paths, communities, and eLibraries that are available within that organization," according to Eduplanet21. "Organizations can set the items so users can self-join, or request information about the topics."

It also includes a new assessment type that allows teachers to assess their progress within a learning path.

Other new features include:

  • The ability to tag assets as favorites;
  • Automatic notifications for updates to topics of which the teacher is a part;
  • The ability to embed YouTube videos; and
  • General UI enhancements.

Additional details are available on Eduplanet21's site.
