netTrekker Now Interoperable with Safari Montage

Schools that use both netTrekker and Safari Montage now have the ability to access educational resources through both services using a single federated search.

Safari Montage and netTrekker parent company Knovation announced a partnership this week at the ISTE 2014 conference that provides access to more than "360,000 educator-curated, standards-aligned digital learning resources through the Safari Montage Learning Object Repository," giving Safari Montage users "one-click access from their Dashboard Portal to their netTrekker account via an LTI Single Sign-On (SSO) feature."

Other new integration features include:

  • The ability to display netTrekker search results within the Safari Montage LOR; and
  • The ability to save search netTrekker results in Safari Montage CreationStation.

Safari Montage is a learning object repository and digital media management system designed specifically for schools. It includes a range of server configurations, a core content package with pre-loaded titles from educational video producers (National Geographic, Discovery Channel, Disney Education and others), tools for creating and adding content, and a WAN manager for districts delivering content to schools.

netTrekker is an online search tool designed to allow students and educators to find educational media quickly. K-12 teachers can search for resources by language, multimedia type, format, subject, grade level, specific standards, and teacher or student recommendations. netTrekker materials include hundreds of thousands of resources available in digital format, including lesson plans, learning games, video, audio, assessments, and interactive whiteboard materials. netTrekker also includes role-based access and personalized homepages for each student and teacher, which lets the user add or subtract widgets with drag-and-drop functionality.

The new integration features are being shown off at the ISTE 2014 conference, taking place this week in Atlanta. Safari Montage is exhibiting in booth 1726. Additional details can be found at edmodo.com.
