Google Classroom Gets Scheduling, Organization Tools

Google has released another update for Classroom, its learning management tool that integrates with Google Apps for Education.

The latest iteration of Classroom adds new scheduling capabilities, allowing teachers to prepare announcements, assignments and questions in advance, then set them to post at a specified date and time. The new functionality includes support for saving drafts of announcements scheduled for the future and notifications when posts actually go live.

According to Google, Classroom is also receiving additional updates later this week, including new organization tools, improved e-mail notifications and updates to the Android and iOS apps.

This fall, Google indicated, Classroom will add new capabilities for involving parents and guardians in their kids’ education. According to Google: “Guardians will be able to sign up to receive daily or weekly e-mail digests of their student’s progress, upcoming work and class announcements. Administrators will be able to invite guardians directly and set domain-wide policies for guardian linking and notifications.”
