LMS Launches 35 Courses in Science, Math, ELA, Social Studies

Educators worldwide using the itslearning learning management system (LMS) now have access more than 35 teacher-curated courses from Gooru, a nonprofit content provider, in subjects like science, mathematics, English language arts and social studies.

Last May, itslearning formed a strategic alliance with Gooru, and the courses are the most recent development between the two organizations. This is the first phase of integrating 1.7 million high-quality resources and 14,000 collections from Gooru into the itslearning platform.

The resources are tagged with metadata, allowing for instant search by grade, learning level, subject and more. Courses also offer assessments (organized into units and lessons) that teachers can share with students. Additionally, administrators can customize courses to support varied instructional models like blended learning or project-based learning.

“We believe the Gooru content in the itslearning library will allow our teachers to quickly find high quality content for their students,” said Michele Eaton, director of virtual and blended learning for the Metropolitan School District of Wayne Township (IN), in a prepared statement. “Currently, too much time is wasted sifting through endless pages of Google results or various social networks to find just the right content. With a few simple clicks in the itslearning library, our teachers can filter down to some of the best educational content on the web. That content can then be easily transferred to the students. Our teachers save time and find better materials because of the growing number of resources in the LMS library.”
