Blackboard Launches K–12 Cloud-Based Digital Learning Environment

Blackboard has launched Blackboard Classroom, a cloud-based digital learning environment for K–12 built around the company's learning management system.

Blackboard described Classroom as "a comprehensive solution designed to help K-12 schools and districts differentiate instruction, increase student engagement and boost teacher productivity.' The fully cloud-based system integrates a full-fledged LMS with analytics and reporting tools, student information system interoperability, HD web conferencing, interactive content (including a library of open educational resources) and mobile applications.

It also offers integration with "popular productivity tools such as Google, OneDrive, Dropbox, and Box," according to the company. "In addition, Blackboard Classroom includes full implementation services to drive successful adoption, with Blackboard experts providing training and expertise throughout the entire implementation process and after."

"With Blackboard Classroom, we have the data we need for making data-driven decisions. It gives us actionable data to make the program better," said Mike Agostinelli, instructional program director at Montana Digital Academy, in a prepared statement. "We're using that data to keep refining and improving educational opportunities for students across Montana."
