$1,000 for STEM Education with a Community Service Twist

Project Learning Tree $1,000 for STEM Education with a Community Service Twist

Project Learning Tree is offering grants of $1,000 for STEM education projects that focus on the environment and community engagement.

The GreenWorks grant program focuses on "environmental service-learning projects that link classroom learning to the real world. Students implement an action project they help design to green their school or to improve an aspect of their neighborhood's environment."

Projects must focus on service learning, include at least one partner community organization and "exemplify student voice."

The annual grant program is open to schools and youth organizations. Matching funds are required for the grant, though in-kind matched funds are accepted, such as the calculated value of volunteer time.

The deadline for the GreenWorks grant program is Sept. 30. Participants must have attended or be registered to attend a Project Learning Tree workshop (either in person or online) by the deadline. Further details, including a grant application form, can be found at plt.org/resources/greenworks-grants.
