Makerbot Method Aims to Bridge Gap Between Desktop and Industrial 3D Printers

Makerbot
will begin shipping its Method 3D printer tomorrow. Starting at $6,499,
the new model offers roughly double the print speed of a conventional
desktop 3D printer with improved precision.
Method uses a dissolvable material to create supports that allow for
greater precision in printing with improved cylindricity and less
scarring.
Other features include:
- WiFi, Ethernet and USB connectivity;
- Remote monitoring and print management;
- Dual print heads;
- Automatic Z calibration, nozzle calibration and material loading;
- Support for PETG translucent specialty material and PLA, PVA and Tough
Makerbot Precision materials.
- 21 sensors, including material color, remaining material, material
type, RFID, temperature, humidity, jam detection and others;
- 5-inch capacitive touch screen (color); and
- Circulating heated chamber.
