Mockingbird Foundation Music Grant Deadline Nears
Educators have about a month left to submit inquiries for a
program that awards grants
for innovative music programs of up to $10,000.
The program, offered through the Mockingbird Foundation, a
music-focused philanthropic organization, awards grants ranging from
$100 to $10,000 to schools and nonprofits for children's music
education. In the previous round, some $25,000 in awards were handed
out. To date, the Mockingbird Foundation has awarded some $1.9
million to 515 grant recipients.
The grants focus on music education, in particular "projects
that foster creative expression (whether in instrumentation,
vocalization, composition, or improvisation)…." The
organization encourages "applications associated with diverse or
unusual musical styles, genres, forms, and philosophies."
The awards are open to schools and nonprofits within the United
States.
The deadline to submit inquiries is January 15, 2022. All
inquiries will be reviewed in February and March, at which point
proposals will be invited. (Grants are only awarded to those invited
to submit proposals after the inquiry period.)
