Augmented reality (AR) has been touted as a cool new technology that can help people see things they otherwise wouldn’t without computer-generated sensory input. But a recent study found that AR can help students better understand certain complicated science concepts than those who did not use any AR device.

Report: Smartphone Market to Make a Comeback in 2017

Worldwide smartphone shipments are expected to rebound with single-digit growth, according to technology research firm International Data Corporation. Android devices will comprise a majority share of the smartphone market, followed by Apple and Microsoft in third place, with smartphone shipments forecast to reach 1.53 billion units in 2017.

Chromebooks Surge in Schools as Apple Slides

Google's Chromebooks gained a majority share of the K–12 mobile device market in the last year, pushing back Apple's iPad even further, while Microsoft Windows devices held steady in second place. Overall, the K–12 mobile device market saw double-digit growth in device shipments.

Report: iPad, Mac Use Growing in K–12

Ninety percent of K–12 schools in a recent survey said they use Apple’s iPad to enhance learning, while 70 percent use Mac devices. Plus, 83 percent of schools saw an increase in Mac adoption, while 81 percent of schools reported an increase in iPad adoption over the previous year. These findings and more were released in a JAMF Trends Survey on Apple device adoption in K–12 schools.
