MathAmigo

With the increased focus on math scores due to the No Child Left Behind Act, Valiant USA has released MathAmigo (www.mathamigo.com), a K-8 standards-based math program for handhelds, including Palm OS devices, the AlphaSmart Dana and the Sony Clio. MathAmigo features more than 2,500 standards-based activities on topics ranging from counting to pre-algebra. Its activities test students’ understanding of concepts, offer a platform to practice their knowledge, and encourage problem solving. In addition, the PC-based MathAmigo Manager allows teachers to quickly organize and plan daily math lessons unique to each student, while the program itself can be used for whole-class teaching, group projects, individual studies, summer school, homework or after-school programs.
