Calgary BoE Selects Desire2Learn to Replace LMS

This fall, the Calgary Board ofEducation (CBE) will replaceits current learning managementsystem with the Desire2Learn(www.desire2learn.com)Learning Platform, which is acomplete Web-based suite ofeasy-to-use teaching and learningtools for course development,delivery, assessment, communication,and learning managementthat deliver flexible,accredited inclassand online education to K-12 students. The agreement alsoprovides teacher and staff onlineprofessional development via thecompany’s e-PD program,as wellas gives CBE access toDesire2Learn’s standards-basedLearning Object Repository,which enables the storing,sharing, and tracking of learningobjects. The estimated 200,000 to400,000 CBE students andteachers expected to use theDesire2Learn Learning Platformwill make this one of the largestK-12 eLearning initiatives inNorth America.
