New Attendance Kiosks Check In 40+ Students Per Minute

At this year’s InfoComm 2014, Shuttle Computer Group and ScholarChip have released a new portable attendance kiosk, designed to check in more than 40 students per minute via contactless ID cards waved nearby.

The kiosk incorporates Shuttle’s X50 all-in-one computer with ScholarChip software, and includes two screens that display student photos students check in. A printer is attached to the kiosk to create temporary IDs and late passes. When connected to a network, attendance is monitored in real time, which can be used by administrators on a day-to-day basis or for accurate student counts used in state funding.

Kiosks may be configured to generate audio and a visual alert for students with open attendance or discipline issues, and they can display a student-specific message issued by school administrators. With additional hardware, a kiosk may capture visitor information and issue visitor passes. Wall mounted kiosks are also available.

"Shuttle is known for working closely with its partners to create customized products for integration and OEM," said Marty Lash, director, sales and marketing, Shuttle Computer Group in a statement. "Our project with ScholarChip includes a customized BIOS, imaging, and additional functionality integrated into our X50 All-In-One Computer. In addition, we utilize ScholarChip's golden master and duplicate it for loading on their attendance kiosks. Once the process is in place, deployment is quick and easy."
