VOD Linked to Harcourt Social Studies

Harcourt School Publishers has entered into an agreement with K-8 curriculum programmer Schlessinger Media, a unit of Library Video Company. The non-exclusive deal calls for Harcourt to correlate the teacher's editions of its new social studies textbook, Harcourt Social Studies, to Schlessinger's video programs.

According to Schlessinger, 21 of the company's video programs have been chosen as part of the deal. The video is available via DVD or VHS. However, schools using Safari Montage can also use that system's VOD capabilities for digital delivery.

Safari Montage is a WAN-based VOD and DAM system designed specifically for schools. It includes four-, eight- and 10-bay server configurations, a core content package with pre-loaded titles from educational video producers (National Geographic, Discovery Channel, Disney Education and others), tools for creating and adding content and a WAN manager for districts delivering content to schools.

Schlessinger said that through the VOD technology, teachers will be able to integrate the programs into lesson plans seamlessly.
