Laser Projector To Turn Any Flat Surface Into Interactive Touch Screen

Light Blue Optics unveiled a laser projector with the unique ability to turn any projected image into a touch screen. The Light Touch is a mobile interactive projector that creates a 10-inch display.

Light Touch can project on any flat surface. Users can interact with content in the same way as they expect to on their other hand-held devices.

WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity enable device-to-device communication and applications that connect directly to the internet, such as social networking, and multimedia sharing.

Light Touch uses an infra-red touch sensing system to transform the projected image into a virtual 10-inch touch screen. The user can control the projector and interact with multimedia content and applications simply by touching the projected image. Light Touch is equipped with 2 GB of onboard Flash memory and has a Micro SD card slot that supports up to 32 GB. Light Touch can be wall-powered or battery-operated, with a run-time of two hours before recharging is required.

The company said Light Touch runs Adobe Flash Lite 3.1, which has a large existing developer community that can provide rapid development of applications. Currently, this is a reference product only. It will be made available to Light Blue Optics’ OEM customers and other strategic partners. A video explaining the technology can be found here.
