Tennessee To Implement Early Warning System

Two state departments of education have gone public with their decision to partner with a company that provides data warehousing and early warning systems.

The Tennessee Department of Education will deploy Choice solution's edFusion Influence Spectrum Management software, which provides a dashboard for administrators to track student progress and results.

The department will use the software to help target students who are at risk of failing, and then develop an individualized plan for each student. Indicators to be used include course completion information, behavior, and longitudinal attendance.

Features of edFusion Influence Spectrum Management include:

  • Research-based dropout data model based on analytics;
  • Integration of the state's requirements in the data modeling process;
  • Real-time analytics of student performance;
  • Creating, assigning, and monitoring of interventions;
  • Alignment of learning plans and interventions; and
  • Targeted alerts and notifications.

In related news, the Utah Education Network has also partnered with Choice Solutions. The network has signed on to its edFusion Data Warehouse to store and access workforce, early childhood, K-12, and post-secondary data from state agencies. The information will be used to complete analysis and research to help policy makers come to decisions.

Features of the edFusion Data Warehouse include:

  • P-20W data linking;
  • Role-based access to data;
  • Scalability and customizability for changing data requirements;
  • Secure operational and longitudinal data storage;
  • Support for federal and state requirements; and
  • Metadata.

In addition, for the past year, the Utah State Office of Education, Choice Solutions, and Pearson Data Solutions have been collaborating to launch the Utah e-Transcript and Record Exchange system. The essential functions of the system, which lets Utah local education agencies exchange student records electronically, were available beginning in August. Utah high schools, through a pilot program, have been sending official student transcripts to colleges and universities through the program.
