Eleutian Turns to Oxford Content for English Language Courses

Oxford University Press, a department of the university, will be releasing a new English language teaching service for delivering daily lessons through videoconferencing. The department is using the delivery platform developed by Eleutian Technology, a company that already teaches English as a second language to students around the world.

The new service, TeachCast with Oxford, combines Eleutian's software and teachers with Oxford's content. The instructors will be using materials from two of Oxford's courses. Language lessons for K-6 students will use the Let's Go series, andadult students will learn business English skills with Business Venture, a short business course for people who want to learn how to communicate in English in business situations.

"The TeachCast system is an innovative solution that makes English language teaching more accessible to children and adults. Over 24 million people have learned English with our Let's Go and Business Venture courses and, by partnering with Eleutian, we will extend our reach even further," noted Peter Marshall, managing director of the English Language Teaching Division of Oxford's Press division.

The initial delivery will focus on drawing students in Asia, the Middle East, and South America. However, the venture will also offer TeachCast with Oxford to "existing channels" around the world.
