Edgenuity Launches Enhanced Professional Development Services for Online Educators

Edgenuity has launched enhanced professional development services aimed at helping teachers make the most of online and blended learning programs.

The new service is available now for the 2013-14 school year and offers one track at the district and school level and one at the teacher level.

"District/School Leadership services begin with partnership planning," according to an Edgenuity release, "where needs and objectives are assessed, programs and courses are selected, and implementation begins." Student engagement, progress, and achievement are then monitored throughout the school year with an end-of-year review for administrators to evaluate program goals and determine improvements needed for the next school year.

Teacher workshops begin with Essential Product Training, Performance Data and Targeted Remediation, and Engaging and Motivating Online Learners courses. Educators then progress "from preparing for the student learning experience, to understanding how to use system data to monitor student progress and customize instruction, to internalizing how best to engage and motivate online and blended learners Extension courses specialize in teaching educators how to expand their knowledge base to better serve the needs of special student populations," according to a company release.

For individuals or small groups who can benefit from on-the-jb coaching, additional courses are available.

"High-quality professional development lays the foundation for successful implementation, which is key to achieving strong academic results from online and blended learning programs," said Sari Factor, CEO of Edgenuity, in a release. "The breadth and flexibility of our curriculum, platform, and new (professional development) services can accommodate the needs of virtually any school or program, helping educators maximize the impact and effectiveness of online learning to increase student achievement."
