Contest To Award Free WiFi for Schools

Netgear has opened its new "WiFi My School" contest, which will award wireless networking gear and network attached storage devices to five winning schools.

To participate, teachers, parents, and students (aged 13 and up) submit a 300-word (max) essay explaining why his or her school needs a new WiFi network. A panel of judges will score the entries based on creativity, originality, and content, each of which will carry equal weight.

The grand prize includes up to 50 Netgear ProSafe access points, a ReadyNAS 516 six-bay storage unit, and a wireless controller (valued at about $34,000). Four first-place prizes include two ProSafe APs and a ReadyNAS 314 four-bay storage unit (valued at about $2,300).

Entries are due Oct. 31. Only non-profit K-12 schools can be nominated to receive a prize.

Complete entry details can be found on wifimyschool.com.
