Virginia District Adopts New SIS To Streamline Processes
Virginia's Augusta County Public Schools has adopted a new student information system (SIS) in an effort to streamline business processes, add functionality, eliminate third-party systems, and reduce redundant data entry.
The district chose to deploy Virginia preferred vendor Infinite Campus, following neighbors Campbell County School District and Fauquier County Public Schools, who have also adopted the SIS this year.
"Augusta County has 20 schools with approximately 10,600 students, so our selection process needed to be thorough," said Frank Walters, Augusta SIS manager, in a prepared statement. "We formed a committee comprised of a cross-section of our principals, counselors, teachers, and central office staff. After careful consideration, Infinite Campus came out on top."
The district will also deploy the company's Campus Food Service, Messenger with Voice, and Online Registration, which will "work seamlessly" with the new SIS, according to a news release.
"By including Campus Food Service and Messenger with Voice, we reduced the choreography of data between disparate systems and can provide a more efficient experience for students, parents, and staff," said Walters. "Additionally, Online Registration will ease the form-filling burden for parents."
"Both as a product and a company, Infinite Campus will help Augusta reach our goals by providing state-of-the-art tools for data collection, processing, and reporting," added Walters. "Infinite Campus's forward thinking approach will allow Augusta to stay current with the latest technological advancements in data processing."
