Kaltura Adds Interactive Quizzes to Video Platform

Kaltura has updated its video education platform to include an interactive video quizzing tool.

The new tool allows users to embed quizzes into video-based learning experiences to provide an ungraded self-check for understanding, assessment of mastery of concepts using video prompts, a viewer poll or an assessment of the video quality, among other uses.

"The flexible tool lets the content creator decide whether the quiz is graded or ungraded, whether the correct answers and score are revealed to viewers and whether there are hints available," according to a news release. "Kaltura's existing reporting tools allow instructors to see how viewers responded to each question, individually and in aggregate."

When used on an LTI-compliant learning management system, scores for quizzes that are to be counted toward a grade are automatically sent to the gradebook.

"We're thrilled to be able to offer our users this new functionality, which allows them to make their videos far more engaging and valuable to the instructional process, all in a fully integrated workflow that is unique in the market," said Ron Yekutiel, Kaltura chairman and CEO, in a prepared statement. "Kaltura continues to innovate in the online learning space, allowing our customers to keep pace with the expectations of the YouTube generation and leverage video to further improve the learning experience."
