Florida Virtual Opens Enrollment Globally

##AUTHORSPLIT##<--->

Florida Virtual School, an online learning provider and technology developer, has launched Florida Virtual Global School (FLVGS). The new venture is designed to provide instruction to students around the country and around the world.

FLVGS incorporates instruction into a collaborative learning environment online to provide teacher-facilitated learning to individual students and in support of schools and districts.

"Education is evolving. The one-to-many approach to teaching that traditional schools offer no longer meets the needs of the 21st century learner," said Florida Virtual School Vice President Todd Hitchcock. "Florida Virtual Global School will engage students anytime, any place, creating a more dynamic learning experience that mirrors today's global economy. Certified, highly-qualified teachers will support student learning and provide access to a cross-section of experts who will supplement course work and address multiple learning styles and individual student needs."

Elaine McCall will serve as principal of the new Global School. She was previously involved with Florida Virtual School and has served as a district level curriculum supervisor at Alachua County School District in Florida.

The Global School will be modeled on Florida Virtual School's learning program and will offer 80 online courses, including AP and honors courses. It will also provide social networking and extracurricular activities. Further information, including course listings, can be found at the link below.
