Follett Expands K-12 eBook Line with 4 Distribution Agreements

Follett Digital Resources has signed four additional publishers to distribution agreements for its line of K-12 eBook titles.

According to the Follett, companies signed to the agreements include Tyndale House Publishers, Compendium Publishing, Trudy Corporation-Sound Prints, and WestEd. The companies' eBooks will be delivered through Follett's distribution system, using a series of integrated components.

The technology used for distribution includes digital warehousing for storage of books prior to purchase; preview technology, allowing potential buyers to see the pages of an eBook before making a purchasing decision; digital rights management; and virtual shelves, where books can be "checked out" and later returned.

"Our eBook distribution platform is trusted and tested by hundreds of publishers and thousands of users," said Follett Digital Resources COO Michael Johnson, in a prepared statement. "We've taken our years of experience working with publishers, K-12 schools and libraries, and created an eBook distribution system closely resembling Follett's traditional book distribution model. We are pleased to have these publishers join our growing list of more than 180 publishers whose eBooks Follett sells through its K-12 and public library channels."

The new additions to Follett's catalogue raise the number of K-12 and public library titles available for purchase online to 46,900. Purchases are made through the company's e-commerce sites, www.Titlewave.com, and www.Titletales.com.
