Teachscape is expanding the capabilities of its professional learning community for teachers, Teachscape Reflect Video.

Reflect Video is an online service and collaboration portal that allows K-12 educators to capture and upload videos of their classroom teaching sessions to review their own effectiveness and, where appropriate, share the videos with colleagues and coaches, both for observation and for sharing best practices. The Web-based tool includes video management and analysis functions and allows teachers to upload artifacts along with their videos to serve as a sort of professional portfolio, and it includes collaboration tools for commenting on videos and sharing resources. Reporting tools are also included to allow administrators to track teachers' progress using various criteria, including participation, usage, and comments.

Previously the services limited the types of devices that could be used to capture videos and upload them to the system. With the new update, users can now employ "most video-recording devices" to capture their classroom activities. The update also adds a clipping feature to let teachers save specific portions of a recorded classroom session.

Aside from the update to Reflect Video, Teachscape has also launched a new classroom recording bundle called the Mini Camera Kit. The kit incorporates a wide-angle lens that attaches to an iPod touch, along with a tabletop tripod and a condenser mic.

Additional details can be found on the Teachscape Reflect Video site.
