Quizlet Adds AI-Powered Tools for Active Practice, Note-taking
Learning platform Quizlet recently announced new AI-powered features designed to provide a more streamlined user experience.
New AI tools within the platform allow users to "seamlessly transition from understanding to active practice," the company said in a news announcement. Learners can enter a prompt or question on Quizlet to receive explanations of study materials, and then ask the platform to generate learning materials and study methods designed to improve outcomes.
"With this experience, learners gain access to curated, relevant materials tailored to their specific needs, all within a single platform powered by a vast repository of student- and teacher-created content amassed over two decades, the company said.
In addition, Quizlet is adding AI note-taking capabilities through the acquisition of Coconote, an AI-powered app that turns audio and video recordings into organized materials such as notes, quizzes, flashcards, podcasts, and study games. The app has gained popularity among college students, with viral social media content posted by users sharing their Coconote "study hacks" hitting more than 1 billion views in the past 18 months.
Quizlet noted that the acquisition "addresses a key need in the study process," allowing users to study on the go with audio content. "Under Quizlet, Coconote continues its mission to give learners superpowers and reflects Quizlet's vision to adapt to how students learn in an AI, multi-media, digital-first world," the company said.
Quizlet has also launched an app that integrates its learning tools within the ChatGPT platform. By connecting their Quizlet account and asking ChatGPT for Quizlet by name, users will be able to access Quizlet materials such as flashcards without leaving their AI workflow, the company explained.
"Students have more powerful tools than ever, yet they're learning less effectively because those tools don't always work together," said Quizlet CEO Kurt Beidler, in a statement. "Today, we solve that. Instead of students adapting to fragmented tools, our new platform, combined with the addition of Coconote, mirrors how learning actually happens, effortlessly moving from question to understanding to application for lasting retention."
