Saint Paul Schools Adds Communication Tools To Improve Parent, Community Egagement

Minnesota's Saint Paul Public Schools (SPPS) has adopted a new set of communication tools in an effort to more effectively engage with parents and the community.

With approximately 39,000 students at more than 60 schools, "SPPS sought to implement one unified communications platform that is easy to use, provides mobile accessibility, has a low barrier to adoption and integrates with existing communications systems already in place," according to a news release.

Following a competitive review, the district chose Blackboard's parent and community engagement tools, which offer school Web sites, parent notifications and a customized mobile app for the community.

"We strongly believe family engagement is crucial to the success of our students," said Jackie Turner, chief of engagement for Saint Paul Public Schools, in a prepared statement. "We've worked with Blackboard for nearly 10 years and they are industry leaders. We want to meet our families where they are, and we look forward to even more collaboration with Blackboard as we expand our digital communication."
