Mimio Unveils New Touch Projector, Updated Mobile App

Mimio has unveiled a new touch projector for classrooms and an update to its MimioMobile app at this week's International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) conference.

The MimioProjector 280T is designed to turn traditional dry erase boards into interactive touch boards. Capable of projecting an area up to 100 inches, the projector allows as many as 10 students to work together simultaneously using their fingers or included styli. "The 280T technology utilizes Mimio's easy to set up Laser Curtain module, which is powered directly from the projector," according to a news release. "The MimioProjector 280T is a full-featured solution that includes MimioStudio classroom software for lesson creation, assessment, and collaboration."

MimioMobile has been updated for compatibility with any device running a supported browser.

Designed to improve collaboration, the MimioMobile app allows students to participate through their device from anywhere in the classroom. The app also "enables teachers to develop assessments with short-answer, short-essay, numeric and multiple-choice student responses," according to a news release.

"At Mimio, our objective is to anticipate what technology-driven resources educators need to actively engage their students and increase learning," said Christopher Leonardo, director of research and development at Mimio, in a prepared statement. "Our goal is to help educators create the type of learning environments that meet their needs, today and into the future."
