learning games.

NASA’s latest online educational resources offer games and activities to students in kindergarten through fourth grade.

The Kids’ Club Web site allows kids to explore space, build virtual rockets, and check out Mars. The site engages students in the hope of motivating them in their studies of science, mathematics, engineering, and technology.

NASA’s Virtual Lab site, available to teachers and students, serves as home base for the Imaging Technology Group’s contributions to the project, funded by NASA’s Virtual Laboratory Initiative.

The site offers a virtual scanning electron microscope (virtual SEM or VSEM) and a virtual light microscope (VLM). Access to the site, tutorials on how these microscopes work, datasets for both, animated microscopy tutorials, lesson plans, and other related educational tools are available free of charge.

SPANISH SPOKEN HERE: BrainPop’s online
animated movies now come in two languages.

BrainPop, producer of educational content for grades K-8, has launched a Spanish-language site, BrainPop Español.

The site uses BrainPop’s format to present Spanish-language content in the core subject areas of math, social studies, and language arts, as well as noncore subject areas of health and technology.

BrainPop believes the new site will become an essential tool for meeting the needs of dual-language classrooms, and hopes BrainPop Español will not only attract Spanish-speaking students in the United States but also in South America and Spain.
