PARCC Field Test Begins Today
The Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers (PARCC) Spring 2014 Field Test starts today. The field test is a trial run of PARCC's Common Core assessments that will be given to students in the spring of 2015.
According to PARCC’s website, “These tests will provide a checkup for our schools and allow educators to identify kids who are falling behind and need extra help. The test developers have worked closely with administrators, teachers and even students to ensure a smooth rollout for the assessment and to make sure schools and teachers have the right supports in place. The field tests will not allow educators to identify kids — we’re just testing the test.”
The field test is being administered in a random selection of schools to more than one million students across PARCC states. The sample of students in the selected schools represents the demographics of each state and PARCC as a whole. In most schools, students are taking the field test online in order to resemble the actual PARCC test. In others, the field test is being administered on paper. Students with disabilities, English language learners and English language learners with disabilities are among field test participants in order to determine whether the test works the way it should for every student.
