Industry Leaders Attend School-to-Work Summit

Education and industry leaders who attended the North American School-to-Work Summit argued for school reform that would better prepare students for the high-skill jobs in demand today. Participants identified several ingredients for schools of the future, including partnerships among schools, businesses and community colleges; widespread use of information technology; and the integration of work skills into classroom curricula. The summit was sponsored by TRO Learning, a leading developer and marketer of microcomputer-based self-paced instructional and testing systems. Their PLATO courseware library comprises over 2,000 hours of instruction in reading, writing, language arts, mathematics, science, social studies, life and job skills, and technology. TRO Learning, Edina, MN, (800) 869-2000.
