Scholarship: $20,000 scholarships; $100,000 scholarship

Description: High school students from all over the U.S. will vie for six $20,000 scholarships in a series of regional competitions. The regional winners will then compete at the national level in December for a top prize of $100,000. There will also be team competitions at the regional and national levels. Sponsored by the Siemens Foundation, the First Annual Siemens Westinghouse Science & Technology Competition showcases students' independent research projects in mathematics and hard science disciplines.
