RadioLAN's Wireless Bridges Extend Internet Service to Schools

RadioLAN Marketing Group has released 5.2 GHz and 5.3 GHz versions of its wireless Campus BridgeLINK-II system. The company says the new frequencies offer greater flexibility for wireless Internet providers in the United States and around the world, particularly in remote or congested locations.

The Campus BridgeLINK-II enables wireless ISPs to extend their "last mile" surface into areas not served by other broadband systems, such as DSL or cable. The line-of-site bridge enables wireless providers to bring one connection into a neighborhood and, from there, transmit to educational subscribers without the cost and delay of trenching and installing wires.

With Campus BridgeLINK-II, wireless providers can extend Internet service to a school community. The system offers a secure method of connecting computer networks without wires, regardless of whether they're located across the street from each other, across campus or across town. By using more than one frequency, the provider can improve performance by providing non-interfering transceivers, thereby extending ranges and increasing aggregate throughput of the system.
