ePortfolio software developer Digication is teaming up with systems designer Whipplehill Communications to launch new ePortfolio services for their customers. The combined effort will allows students using Whipplehill Podium-based portals to collaborate on projects and showcase their work for their peers and in preparation for higher education admissions.

Digication's ePortfolios have been deployed in more than 2,000 schools, and Whipplehill's Podium is in use at more than 300 schools in the United States, Canada, Europe, and Asia. Through the partnership, the two products will be integrated to provide single sign-on access to electronic portfolios within Podium. According to the companies, this will allow students to "upload illustrations, poetry, short stories, papers, photography, PDFs, HTML, video and Flash projects. A channel in Whipplehill's Podium can pull student portfolios to display thumbnail images on the portal, increasing exposure to student work."

"The idea of e-Portfolios has long been discussed by our clients, but so far we've never had the opportunity for such an integrated solution, where portfolios can be made this easily," said Travis Warren, president of WhippleHill, in a statement released Monday. "The potential rewards reach beyond the work students have produced in class. From what we can tell, more and more colleges are looking for precisely this in their admission decisions."

Digication e-Portfolio also allows teachers to archive lessons and other materials.
