Microsoft, BearingPoint Team Up To Provide Risk-Based Compliance Solution

##AUTHORSPLIT##<--->

Microsoft has teamed up with BearingPoint to create the BearingPoint Enterprise Governance, Risk, and Compliance (EGRC) solution. The platform is built on Microsoft technology and capitalizes on the companies' long-standing relationship.

According to the announcement, the EGRC solution is built on the Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 and is designed to help organizations assess and manage areas of risk by alerting stakeholders when predefined metrics are exceeded. The alerts help initiate workflow steps, forcing employee action, and creating a verifiable audit trail.

"In so many organizations, compliance and risk management are treated as silos of responsibility, supported by costly, reactive point solutions," said J.R. Reagan, vice president and managing director, Global Risk, Compliance and Security, BearingPoint, in a prepared statement. "By merging our deep experience in risk and compliance management with Microsoft's technology, we are delivering a powerful, compelling and cost-effective solution for clients worldwide."

The new platform builds on BearingPoint's EMEA ECM and Compliance solutions established for a handful of European clients, as well as the Integrated Financial Control and Compliance solution (iFiCCS) designed specifically for U.S. government clients. According to the companies, this new solution will address a range of issues across all industries, and is intended to increase productivity while helping reduce overall costs.
