2/5/2007—Insight Schools has partnered with the Grantsburg School District in Wisconsin to launch a new online high school. The Insight School of Wisconsin debuted last week and is opening its virtual doors for the 2007/2008 school year. Information sessions for parents and students will be held beginning today and running through Feb. 23.

The Insight School of Wisconsin is a full-time, diploma-granting online high school targeted particularly to students who have not been successful in traditional learning environments or who are served better in non-traditional environments. According to Insight, these include advanced learners; home-schooled students; full-time wage earners; students with health or physical challenges; and those who may have struggled socially in a traditional school.

Joni Burgen, Superintendent of Grantsburg School District said in a prepared statement, "Insight School of Wisconsin will feature a teacher/student ratio of 1:21, [more than] 140 courses to choose from, flexibility to complete schooling around a job, athletic training or family commitment, and, perhaps most importantly, a level of personalized mentoring that is unheard of in online education."

Wisconsin students enrolling in the school will receive a free laptop, printer, and Internet stipend. According to Insight, high school students from around the state of Wisconsin are eligible to enroll, tuition-free. The company also said that the team launching Insight School of Wisconsin has "designed, built and operated online high schools that have now educated nearly 1 million students."

As part of the state's open enrollment period, information sessions for parents and students will be held throughout the state between Feb. 5 and Feb. 23. See the link below for more information.
