California District Selects MRV To Aid in Network Expansion

##AUTHORSPLIT##<--->

Mesquite Independent School District has entered into an agreement with MRV Communications to implement the company's OptiSwitch 304 optical termination units as a part of the district's current network expansion.

The move comes with the continuing growth of the 30,000-student district and is aimed at helping the organization manage its network growth and ongoing migration away from fiber-optic network services. The new equipment will serve as a media converter between fiber-optic based LAN and copper-based MAN networks.

"The Mesquite Independent School District encountered a situation in which it needed to grow its network but did not have the infrastructure in place to do so without adding optics or adding expensive leased fibers," said Noam Lotan, president and CEO of MRV Communications, in a prepared statement. "The OS304 optical termination unit provides the perfect combination of digital diagnostics and other network management features to integrate seamlessly into existing network environments."

Mesquite ISD encompasses 53 facilities and manages a network comprising more than 60 miles of fiber optic cable.
