Optoma Launches Entry Level 3D Projectors with Networking


The Optoma TW631-3D and TX631-3D feature a diagonal screen size of up to 300 inches and a 10,000:1 contrast ratio.

Optoma has recently rolled out two portable, 3D-capable DLP projectors for use in classrooms and boardrooms.

The new projectors, dubbed the TW631-3D and TX631-3D, are single chip models that display videos and presentations on a maximum diagonal screen size of 300 inches with a brightness of 3,500 lumens and a contrast ratio of 10,000:1.

The TW631-3D has a native resolution of 1,280 x 800 (WXGA), a throw ratio of 1.47-1.81, and a 1.2x manual zoom. The TX631-3D has a native resolution of 1,024 x 768 (XGA), a throw ratio of 1.97-2.17, and a 1.1x manual zoom. Both projectors support RS-232 control and Ethernet connections.

Features include:

  • Vertical keystone correction of +/- 40 degrees;
  • Support for input resolutions up to 1080p (HD);
  • Support for rear, upright, inverted, and front projection methods;
  • An economy mode that extends the estimated lamp life from 3,500 hours to 6,000 hours;
  • Crestron RoomView software;
  • Kensington lock port, security bar, and keypad lock; and
  • A 7-watt speaker.

The projectors measure 3.08" (h) x 11" (w) x 9.06" (d) and weigh 4.9 pounds.

AV inputs include HDMI, two analog RGB/component (mini D-sub 15-pin), composite video, and a stereo minijack. AV outputs include analog RGB/component (mini D-sub 15-pin) and a stereo minijack. Communication ports and peripherals include RJ-45, RS-232, and USB.

The TX631-3D is currently available for $649, and the TW631-3D is available for $749.
