Arizona District Chooses Alexandria Library System

After a year-long study of three leading library systems, Scottsdale Unified School District in Arizona announced it will automate its 27 school libraries with the Alexandria library information system. Alexandria, developed by COMPanion Corp., is the top-selling school library information system, according to Library Journal. Alexandria's simple-to-use interface and quality technical support were cited by the district as major factors in its decision. Plans to implement the system include purchasing 1,000 Macintosh and Power Mac computers as part of the district's educational technology strategy. Mark Share, District Director of Information Services, says the district's 24,000 students will have access to Alexandria via schoolwide networks. "Our objective is to give students access to multiple resources from wherever they are in school." Educators may request a free trial version of Alexandria.
