Wireless Phone Hooks To Existing Networks

Freeset is a unique wireless telephone system that can be added to any existing business communications network, via a standard interface, to provide fully integrated wireless telephony.

The system is designed for environments where multiple users and high-traffic telephone densities place high demands on conventional wire telephone equipment. Freeset employs superior digital radio technologies that provide for efficient use of the radio spectrum while avoiding interference from other equipment.

Conversations are digitized and encrypted to ensure privacy and security. Unlike with conventional cellular phones, the phone rates incurred when using Freeset are the same as those of the existing network.

Powered from a NiCad battery, the portable phone provides 3.5 hours of talk time or 16 hours of stand-by time. The Desk Charger serves as a convenient resting place for the unit. Volume of the ring tone and received audio can be adjusted to one of four levels.

Each Base Station, mounted with two antennas, offers up to eight simultaneous speech channels. The number of Base Stations needed for a given facility depends on the size of the area to be covered and the amount of traffic to be handled.

Standard system features include seamless call handover, where the portable phone continuously seeks the best channel to use, and authentication measures to prevent erroneous ringing or unauthorized use. Ericsson Business Networks, Cypress, CA, (800) ERICSSON.
