Mich. Employees Take Satellite Seminars

Michigan's Department of Civil Service is working with the Michigan Information Technology Network (MITN) and the Executive Education Network (EXEN) to provide its employees with live, interactive seminars from top business schools. The satellite TV broadcasts, targeted at mid- and supervisory-level managers, cover topics such as accounting, financial decision making and human resource management. Besides one-way video, enrollees experience two-way audio through One Touch audio-response system keypads, which have a built-in microphone and alphanumeric keys. A non-profit organization, MITN works with government, education and business to improve access to education through distance learning technologies.
