Take Reading Tests in 10 Minutes

The Standardized Test for Assessment of Reading (S.T.A.R.) lets educators accurately assess students' reading abilities in 10 minutes or less. Such rapid testing improves reading instruction by helping teachers quickly match students with appropriate reading levels. Tests can be administered at any time, with students selecting the best word to complete a sentence and the software then delivering the next question based on their responses. The individualization of each test reduces student anxiety and ensures a student will never take the same test twice. In one of the largest norming samples ever conducted, S.T.A.R. tests have been norm-referenced nationwide by a group of 50,000 students of varying geographic and soci'economic backgrounds. S.T.A.R. can be used on a single computer or on a network. The single-computer license allows for multiple testing of up to 40 students. The network license allows testing for up to 200 students and schools may expand that number in 50-student increments. Advantage Learning Systems, Inc., Wisconsin Rapids, WI, (800) 338-4204.
